2023 Community Grants Program Recipients

The BCM annual community grant program is designed to support local organizations and initiatives that make a positive impact in the community. The grant recipients are carefully selected based on their mission, the impact they have on the community, and the sustainability of their project. The organizations and initiatives that receive funding through this program play a vital role in making our community a better place for everyone.

The following is a list of the organizations that have been selected as this year’s grant recipients:

Niagara College

Niagara College

Niagara College’s fundraising events have raised more than $3 million in support of learning resources, scholarships, and bursaries over its 30-year history. The Celebrating Dreams event contributes to livable, workable, and sustainable communities for the future by providing students scholarships and bursaries to attain post-secondary education. Community Crew

Community Crew

Community Crew provides approximately 4,000 nutritious boxed lunches per week (over 140,000 per year) to food insecure children in the Niagara Region. Each week, over 80 Community Crew volunteers pack and deliver these lunches to schools in St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, and Thorold. The schools we serve have the highest poverty ratings in the Niagara Region, and we know that for many of the children we support, their Community Crew lunch is the best, if not only, meal they will enjoy that day. Just a few years ago, Community Crew only served lunches in a handful of schools, and we have more than doubled in size in the last three years, now serving 29 schools. We are positively affecting future generations by supporting children so that they can not only learn in school, but understand that their community cares about them, and also realize their full potential. Community Crew exists to “Provide Hope to Children, One Lunch at a Time.”

  • In 2021, they registered 392 new members.
  • In 2022 they registered 603 new members.

In 2023, they have already had 143 new members registrations. (Jan – March 16, 2023)
